Day 1 - 25 Jan 2018

Assemble at the Majestic bus stand and take the overnight bus to Mangalore.

Day 2 - 26 Jan 2018

Arrive early morning and transfer to a heritage stay, that is the local Tharavadu. On the way, visit the Ananthapura Lake temple famous for its vegetarian crocodile! Relax at the heritage stay after lunch. Visit the beautiful Bekal fort in the evening. You can also go for fishing in the nearby pond, if there is light. Overnight at Kasargod.

Day 3 - 27 Jan 2018

Go for an early morning walk around the village. After breakfast, proceed to our backwater stay. Relax and later, leave for a trip to the Valiyaparamba backwaters and the mangrove trail after lunch.  After dinner today, we visit the local temple 15 kms from the stay for their Theyyam performance. Overnight at Padanna.

Day 4 - 28 Jan 2018

Early morning, go for another boat ride around the backwaters to see the mussel farms. Understand how a local community initiative is driving income and job in a village. You can also swim in the backwaters. Check out after breakfast and go for a village tour to see various village activities like toddy-sapping, banana leaf matting and pottery.

Have lunch with the locals. Later, take a cruise in the backwater along with your evening coffee. Relax and then proceed to Mangalore for your dinner and overnight bus to Bangalore.


  • Bangalore-Mangalore-Bangalore by KSRTC Airavat Club Class.
  • Local transport at the destination.
  • 2N stay on double sharing – in a heritage tharavadu and in a gorgeous backwater stay.
  • All meals on all 3 days (breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening tea/coffee)
  • Guided village walk and evening cruise on a house boat.
  • Boat trip to the beach and the mussel farm.
  • Visit to Theyyam performance either on 26th or 27th January

Terms & Conditions

  • 25% of the trip cost if cancelled 20 days in advance.
  • 50% of the trip cost if cancelled 19 to 8 days in advance.
  • Last 7 days – no show – entire amount will be forfeited.


  • Please be prepared for a fair bit of walking.
  • F5 Escapes is in no way responsible for any untoward incident happening due to the ignorance/negligence of the guests, natural/man-made calamities, accidents or any other events that are out of human control during the trip.
  • All our trips are well-researched, including identifying access to medical facilities. In case of a medical emergency, F5 will assist the traveler in getting medical attention.
  • F5 reserves the right to cancel the trip under certain conditions – in such a case, the amount will be refunded in full.
  • Water activities requires personal caution. The rides as well as swimming in backwaters are safe and fun, however, use your discretion depending on your swimming skills.
  • Theyyam is performed based on the Malayalam calendar and actual dates sometimes differ than the predicted one, based on the lunar movements. So it can be shifted from 26th to 27th or 28th.
