Day 1 : Reach Aurangabad. Explore monuments.

Local attractions

Reach Aurangabad by morning flight. Relax and have lunch. Known as the ‘City of Gates’ with its ‘52 gates,’ each with a local history, Aurangabad has its own charm to explore. Explore the city for half a day today. Overnight at Aurangabad.

There will be considerable walking required for exploring the caves in Ajanta and Ellora and exploration in Aurangabad.

Day 2 : Explore Ajanta Caves.

Drive: 6-7 hrs

Walk: 2-3 hrs

UNESCO site

Considered to be a masterpiece of Buddhist religious art, the largest Buddhist cave temples with their finest architecture, explore the Ajanta caves today (UNESCO World Heritage site). Built in the period between the 2nd century BC and the 6th century AD, these hand-carved and frescoed caves are the finest surviving examples of ancient Indian art, particularly expressive paintings that present emotion through gesture, pose, and form. Overnight at Aurangabad.

We will be covering ~105 km today (roughly 3 hrs drive one-way). So please maintain time as per the trip lead’s instructions to reach places on time and enjoy exploring the places. Also, it is recommended to carry some light munchies for the road. There will also be considerable walking required to explore the caves.

Ajanta Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 3 : Explore Ellora caves. Grishneshwar Jyotirling.

Drive: 3-4 hrs

Walk: 2-3 hrs

Temple visit

Today we traverse across the Ellora caves (UNESCO site), which illustrates the characteristics of ancient India, and exhibits the monuments of Jainism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Later, if time permits, we visit and seek blessings at the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Back to Aurangabad. Overnight at Aurangabad.

The Kailash temple (Cave 16), a part of the Ellora caves, also known as the Kailashanatha temple is the largest monolithic rock structure in the world and a tribute to Lord Shiva.

Ellora Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Some expenses are excluded (especially those of personal preferences) and will have to be taken care of by the individual. Exclusions include:

Food and snacks other than mentioned in inclusions

Camera charges.

Travel from your hometown to Aurangabad and back.

Any cost arising due to natural calamities, personal flight delays, and aspects beyond our control. We will definitely facilitate an alternative and handle the contingency, the cost being yours.

25% of the trip cost if cancelled 89 – 60 days in advance.

50% of the trip cost if it is cancelled 59 to 16 days in advance.

Last 15 days – no show – the entire amount will be forfeited.

What type of food will be available during the Ajanta Ellora women travel group trip?

Food will be a simple local affair – both veg and non-veg food options will be available. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please let us know beforehand.

What will the weather be like?

The weather will be pleasant in early mornings and evenings. It will gradually get warm and the sun will be sharp during the day. Temperature will range from 22 degrees to 32 degrees C. This however is only a prediction and, the above information might be subject to change during your actual travel days.

What are the company policies on smoking/drinking?

Note on Smoking and Alcohol policy: Everyone joining is an adult, and we realise that we cannot dictate the behaviour on how you should enjoy the trip. All we ask is to drink responsibly. Hangover delays are going to cost a lot and will not be tolerated at all. So please do not test your limits and enjoy in moderation. Also, do respect your roommate’s comfort levels with the alcohol smell and avoid drinking in the room if she is not comfortable. If you smoke, please do so outside the room, even if the rooms have ashtrays.
