Day 1: Amritsar, Golden temple

Arrivals

Golden Temple

Arrive at the heritage city of Amritsar. After lunch, visit the Jallianwala Bagh. Indulge in a leisurely walk, shop and savour the city’s delicious street food. Proceed towards the Golden Temple in the evening. If time permits, get the blessing in the form of langar at the Golden Temple. Overnight at Amritsar.

January will be really cold in Punjab and Dalhousie. You can expect the lowest temperature around 3°C and the highest around 20°C.

Authentic Punjabi food wherever possible will be available. Simple Indian food such as rotis/dal, rice etc. Toast/Omelettes will be available during the Amritsar Dalhousie women only trip.

We will be visiting multiple places and covering some distances. Please coorperate with the trip lead to maintain time.

Day 2 : Partition Museum, Attari-Wagah Border

Explore more of Amritsar today. Visit the Gobindgarh Fort, Partition museum. Proceed to Attari-Wagah Border to witness the retreat ceremony. Overnight at Amritsar.

The retreat ceremony at Attari-Wagah is something you need to prepare for, expect it to be crowded. You need to be there well in time to grab the seats.

Day 3 : Dalhousie

Drive: 3-4 hrs

Walk: 1-2 hrs

Local attractions

After breakfast, start your journey towards Dalhousie. This will be a long and picturesque ride. Visit some local churches and explore the Mall Road in the evening. Overnight at Dalhousie.

Dalhousie will be very cold. It can have a temperature ranging from 1°C to 14°C. However, if it snows, temperatures will dip further (sub zero).

Day 4 : Khajjiar

Drive: 2-3 hrs

Walk: ~1 hr

Sightseeing

After breakfast, visit the mini Switzerland of India, Khajjiar, if weather permits. Khajjiar Lake, situated in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, takes its name from Khajji Nag, the deity in the temple nearby, with evergreen cedar trees surrounding it from all sides. Drive back to Dalhousie by evening. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Dalhousie.

Snow disrupts plans in the Himalayas. So if there is a snowfall in or around Dalhousie, we may not be able to visit all the places. However, there will be snow! And that itself will be pretty amazing. Those days are best for unwinding, reading or just soaking in the Himalayas.

Day 5 : Lohri Celebration, Village Walk

Drive: 3-4 hrs

Today is Lohri day. Get ready for the celebrations. Start your journey towards Nawanpind village in Gurdaspur. Enjoy a tractor ride, taste the fresh gur, and engage yourself in Lohri festivities. If you feel like, get dressed up in your traditional attire and enjoy a hearty Lohri with bonfire, food, dance and more in an authentic Punjabi environment. Overnight at Nawanpind.

Day 6 : Flyout

Drive: 2-3 hrs

Return flights

After breakfast, get dropped at Amritsar airport for your flight. Our women group trip to Amritsar-Dalhousie ends.

25% of the trip cost if cancelled 89 – 60 days in advance.

50% of the trip cost if it is cancelled 59 to 16 days in advance.

Last 15 days – no show – the entire amount will be forfeited.

If you use our services to book flights, cancellation charges will apply.

Note on smoking and alcohol policy: Everyone joining is an adult and we realize that we cannot dictate the behavior on how you should enjoy the trip. All we ask is to drink responsibly. Hangover delays are going to cost a lot, and will not be tolerated at all. So please do not test your limits and enjoy in moderation. Also, do respect your roommate’s comfort levels with the alcohol smell and avoid drinking in the room if she is not comfortable. If you smoke, please do so outside the room, even if the rooms have ashtray.
