Meghalaya – the abode of clouds – is an enticing state. Dotted with myriad waterfalls and caves, this place is a beautiful amalgamation of nature, culture and progress. A matrilineal society of Khasi tribes is a story we should all hear. We are going to explore the pretty lakes, azure waterfalls and a surreally clear river. To the adventure seeker there is a greatly rewarding trek to the double decker living root bridge. To the wild life lovers, there is an extra bonus of the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary to see the one-horned rhinoceros. Join us on our year-end Meghalaya women only group tour for an unforgettable experience.

For our Meghalaya all women tour, simple Indian food such as rotis/dal, rice etc. Toast/Omelettes will be available. Most of the local cuisine in Meghalaya is non-vegetarian. However, please note that there is no dearth of vegetarian food, but please do not expect an all-vegetarian (only vegetarian) place to eat. Those are almost impossible to find in Meghalaya.

Living root bridges are one of the most enticing factors of Meghalaya. Today we trek to the double decker bridge to Nongriat. It is around 3000 steps but totally worth the exercise. Spend some time at the mountain pool where the water is crystal clear and a colour of absolutely mesmerising azure. Climb back up to the parking area by evening. Rest the aching calves and call it an early night. Overnight at Cherapunjee.

Just got back from my Meghalaya trip with F5 Escapes, and I’m still smiling every time I think about it…They somehow find the perfect spots, the kind you’d never discover on your own. Every viewpoint, every trail, every little detour felt magical. And the stays were such a highlight - safe, unique, scenic, super clean, and paired with genuinely tasty food. It all felt so thoughtfully chosen…Huge thanks to F5 Escapes for making the trip feel comfortable, safe, and full of heart.

What are the company policies on smoking/drinking?

Everyone joining is an adult and we realise that we cannot dictate the behaviour on how you should enjoy the trip. All we ask is to drink responsibly. Hangover delays are going to cost a lot of time, and will not be tolerated at all, especially considering that this is an active trip. Please do not test your limits and enjoy in moderation. Also, do respect your roommate’s comfort levels with the alcohol smell and avoid drinking in the room if she is not comfortable. If you smoke, please do so outside the room, even if the rooms have ashtray. Smoking in the vehicle is not allowed.

8
How does F5 Escapes promote responsible and sustainable tourism?

When we travel, we visit somebody’s home, be it a city, village or a place of stay. We treat them with utmost respect. We encourage all our guests to leave no trace, only footprints. We recommend carrying one's own steel water bottles. Most places of stay we partner with provide clean drinking water and water is available for refill. Small shift, big impact. We are mindful about our group not littering the destination. We try choosing vendors who make a conscious effort to employ locals, thereby enabling us to give back to the local economy. We encourage local handicrafts and on several trips we visit local artisans. We try to reduce overcrowding by travelling in small groups of maximum 12 people. We support women-led enterprises and seek them out on our travels. We work with local organisations across India involved in conservation, culture preservation and employment generation.
