This is an ex-Bangalore women group tour to Mudumalai and Somnathpur in December 2026. There will be multiple pickup and drop-off points across the city. If you are joining us from a different city, please reach Bangalore by the evening of 23 December, and plan your return after 10 PM on 27 December.

Day 1: Somnathpur, Gaganachukki Waterfall

Drive: 3-4 hrs

Walk: 2-3 hrs

UNESCO World heritage site - Somnathpura Chennakesava temple

Start early from Bangalore. Breakfast on the way. Visit Somnathpur temple, declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023, famous for its stunning Hoysala architecture, known for intricate carvings. Reach your riverside stay by lunch time. Enjoy your lunch & relax. In the evening , go to Gaganachukki waterfall's view point, walk by the river, and enjoy the bonfire. Overnight at Mallavali.

Our Somnathpura and Mudumalai women only trip is to ex-Bangalore. This is a road trip and pickups will start by 6:30 AM across multiple points usually along the ORR. Pack some light snacks/eatables for the road. Pick-up details will be shared closer to the date of travel, based on the group.

Home cooked meals and delicious local delicacies will be served.

FUN FACT!

Did you know? Chennakesava temple in Somnathpura is carved entirely out of soapstone (instead of granite). It was not available locally and had to be brought from other parts. The stone, when quarried, is soft and malleable which allowed Hoysala sculptors to make intricate carvings with precision. Over time, the stone hardened which allowed the carvings to stay preserved and intact even after centuries.

Day 2 : Talakadu, Gudalur

Drive: 4-5 hrs

Walk: 2-3 hrs

Coracle ride & Tea gardens

After breakfast, leave for Gudalur. On the way , stop at Talakadu. Explore the temples & enjoy a coracle ride. Reach Gudalur by lunch, have lunch and relax. In the evening, visit the tea gardens nearby. Overnight at Gudalur.

Coracle ride is subject to service availability based on the level of water.

Day 3 : The Real Elephant Collective, Pykara Lake

Wake up to serene surroundings. After breakfast, visit The Real Elephant Collective (TREC), a socio-environmental enterprise merging art & conservation. See first-hand how Lantana Elephants are made, as well as Senna toys, both of which are invasive species in the region. If you are interested, you can purchase a Senna toy and paint it too. Have lunch & visit Pykara lake later. Stop at the Needle Rock view point and various other scenic spots. Overnight at Gudalur.

Your stay will be a serene boutique retreat surrounded by trees and with a view of the Nilgiris. Home cooked, delicious local delicacies will be served.

FUN FACT!

Did you know? The life-size Lantana Elephant sculptures are not randomly made. Most of them are modelled on real wild elephants to reflect closeness in terms of height, build and even personality.

Day 4 : Drive Back To Bangalore

Walk: ~1 hr

Drive: 6-8 hrs

Return / Fly out

Start early, after morning cuppa, go for a walk around the property. Check-out after breakfast. Have lunch on the way and reach Bangalore by evening. Your weekend Mudumalai group tour ends.

We will try to reach Bangalore city and complete all drop-offs by 8 PM. All drop-offs will be along the same route only (no airport/railway station drop offs). If you have to travel further, please book your return tickets after 10 PM.

We want to enable you to travel wallet free. That’s why, when you join our women only group tours, we take care of most of your travelling expenses. Our Mudumalai ex-Bangalore tour package includes:

A/C Tempo Traveller or similar throughout the trip
All meals from breakfast on Day 1 to lunch on Day 3.
Accommodation on twin/double sharing basis.
All mentioned activities and sightseeing including entrance fee.

Exclusions

Some expenses are excluded (especially those of personal preferences) and will have to be taken care of by the individual. Exclusions include:

Food and beverages other than mentioned
Additional activity other than mentioned
Painting of Senna toys at TREC
Transport to and from the pickup/drop points in Bangalore
Any cost arising due to natural calamities, personal flight delays and aspects beyond our control. We will definitely facilitate an alternative and handle the contingency, the cost being yours.

REFUNDS/CANCELLATION:

15% of the trip cost if cancelled 90 days or more in advance.
25% of the trip cost if cancelled 89 – 60 days in advance.
50% of the trip cost if it is cancelled 59 to 16 days in advance.
Last 15 days – no show – the entire amount will be forfeited.
If you use our services to book flights, cancellation charges will apply.

What will the weather be like?

Days will be pleasant and the night will be cooler. The temperature will vary between 26°C to 15°C. *Please note that nowadays, climate/ weather is dependent on many factors and unpredictable hence the above information might be subject to change during your actual travel days.

How will the pick up and drop offs be organised?

Our Somnathpur-Mudumalai-Bangalore weekend getaway is a road trip. We will have multiple pickup and drop off points usually along the ORR. The actual pickup points will be shared closer to the dates of travel, based on the group and feasibility.

What are the company policies on smoking/drinking?

Everyone joining is an adult and we realize that we cannot dictate the behavior on how you should enjoy the trip. All we ask is to drink responsibly. Hangover delays are going to cost a lot, and will not be tolerated at all. So please do not test your limits and enjoy in moderation. Also, do respect your roommate’s comfort levels with the alcohol smell and avoid drinking in the room if she is not comfortable. If you smoke, please do so outside the room, even if the rooms have ashtray.
