September 2026, join F5's Spiti women only group tour for an exploration of one of the last frontiers of ancient Tibetan culture –  the high plateaus of Spiti and Lahaul. A remote area of snow capped peaks and deep blue-water lakes, the culture of this region has remained peaceful and intact over centuries. This is not for the faint hearted, and is one of the most adventurous journeys you could undertake in India. Everything is raw, pristine and spell binding.

Come and join us for a road journey across the Spiti Valley which describes its destination.

Higher altitudes require a certain level of fitness. We are not strictly trekking anywhere but even climbing up the stairs or a little steep walk to the monasteries or any sightseeing areas will feel like treks, given the altitude (around 6500 to 15000 ft altitudes). Langza is at 14500 ft.

We remain cautious about the fitness of our participants. We have conducted a number of very successful trips to Spiti. However, every person has different coping levels to high altitudes and young age or physical fitness may still not guarantee easy acclimatisation. We will share guidelines. Please follow the guidelines and cooperate with the trip lead.

Allow your body time to acclimatise to the altitude by spending the first day in Solang without strenuous activities. Slowly increase your physical exertion over the next few days. We have planned our itinerary in a way that gives us ample time to do that. So, it might look like we are not doing a lot in a day but that is because we are not travelling to plains.

Before taking up our Spiti Valley group trip, consult a doctor for altitude sickness medication, like Diamox. This can help prevent and alleviate symptoms. If you are already consuming any blood thinner medicine in your regular chart then mention that to the doctor specifically.

FUN FACT!
You may call it a myth or campfire story, but in 2004, a team of ISRO scientists camping near the lake at the Samudra Tapu glacier, spotted a 4-feet tall ‘robot like’ object hovering near the ground! While the object vanished into the air, its presence is still unexplained, giving the lake a mysterious edge.

Indigestion is another reason why people feel nausea when they reach high altitude regions, hence it is advisable to keep in hand digestive/ antacids of your choice or ask the host for natural local home remedies. Have a light meal on the first day of arrival to avoid indigestion. Consume a diet rich in carbohydrates and low in fats. This helps in acclimatisation and provides energy for your body to cope with the altitude.

Did you know? It is common to discover ancient marine fossils (locally called Chaudu) when walking around Langza. This is because, millions of years ago, the region was under the ancient Tethys Sea resulting in these natural fossil formations.

This was my first trip with F5 for Spiti and I loved each moment of it. I appreciate the part where the team informs the travelers beforehand about how the tour will be and what kind of physical fitness is expected. It shows they care...We were never pushed or asked to run on time. We spent good amount of time at each location of Spiti making every moment memorable.Thank you so much F5…

Travel through Spiti valley can be very tiring, but our trip lead made sure we took enough breaks so that we didn't feel tired or bored...The group's josh was high throughout the trip - this is very important as all were meeting for the 1st time during the trip...One thing you can be sure - if you're travelling with F5, all your queries will be answered...Always a great experience (3 times so far!) travelling with F5.

We will take an overnight Volvo from Himachal Bhavan (Mandi House) in Delhi to Manali. We will book tickets on the bus the trip lead will be travelling on. We will also book the Volvo for the return journey from Manali to Delhi.

3
What kind of food will be available in the Spiti group trip package?

Simple Indian food such as rotis/dal, rice etc. Toast/Omelettes will be available. If you have special dietary requests, please let us know beforehand. It would also be a good idea to carry some meal packets with you if you have special requirements.

4
What will the weather be like in Spiti Valley in September?

Lahaul and Spiti district is a cold desert like Ladakh. The weather in September end is cold during the day, but the sun will be extremely sharp while you are out. Night will be very cold. Temperature will range from -3 to 15 degree C. *Please note that nowadays, climate/ weather is dependent on many factors and unpredictable hence the above information might be subject to change during your actual travel days.

5
As a solo-female traveller, can I join the Spiti Valley group tour?

Absolutely! We design our all-women group trips to make it convenient, fun, and safe for women travellers. While solo trips for women in India give you the autonomy to pace your trip, group travelling is hassle-free and without the mental load of planning and organising. You travel with a group of like-minded women, make new friends, and share experiences for a lifetime. Join our Spiti women trip to experience the joy of travelling with your tribe.

6
Can you share more details about signing the F5 agreement?

Higher altitudes require a certain level of fitness. It is advised to consult a doctor first before signing up for the trip. For the Spiti all-women group tour, you will need to sign an agreement with F5 that you are undertaking this trip after your doctor’s consultation on travelling to high altitude.

7
What are the company policies on smoking/drinking?

Alcohol on higher altitude can make you extremely dehydrated. And even smaller quantities can cause altitude-related issues. If you have to taste a local alcohol, try it towards the tail end of the trip. Avoid smoking at higher altitudes as the oxygen is already rare.

8
How does F5 Escapes promote responsible and sustainable tourism?

When we travel, we visit somebody’s home, be it a city, village or a place of stay. We treat them with utmost respect. We encourage all our guests to leave no trace, only footprints. We recommend carrying one's own steel water bottles. Most places of stay we partner with provide clean drinking water and water is available for refill. Small shift, big impact. We are mindful about our group not littering the destination. We try choosing vendors who make a conscious effort to employ locals, thereby enabling us to give back to the local economy. We encourage local handicrafts and on several trips we visit local artisans. We try to reduce overcrowding by travelling in small groups of maximum 12 people. We support women-led enterprises and seek them out on our travels. We work with local organisations across India involved in conservation, culture preservation and employment generation.
