Dandeli is a beautiful town in western ghat region of Karnataka. A local legend states that the city is named after Dandelappa, a local deity, a servant of the Mirashi landlords, who lost his life because of his loyalty. An alternative legend states that a king named Dandakanayaka passed through the forests and named them after himself, and the city is believed to stand on the place where Dandakaranya stood when he named the area.

Highlights:

Dandeli is a town in North Karnataka, known locally as Uttara Kannada region. The modern town has a renowned wildlife habitat where rare animals and birds roam in deep valleys and hilly terrain. The Kali river rapids are among the best for river rafting in the country.

Pick today for sightseeing and go for the wild life safari. Go for rafting after breakfast (if it’s monsoon). It will take you half a day. Indulge in the farm activities today – you can take your pick from farm activities, sugar cane juicing etc. There are other water activities available around like kayaking and natural jacuzzi.
